The Darkened Sun In-sight

remembering who you are

The Story

I will encourage you to begin here, for any darkness.

The In-sight

Close your eyes (after reading this).

Imagine that you are a sun. You have gone dark, surrounded by a black shell. Tar, hardened. Cold and dark. Blocking out all light and letting none in.

Yet wait…the shell has a few cracks. Considering how big you are, as a sun, it’s unavoidable. Through these cracks, light escapes. And a little enters in.

Your darkness, whatever you are going through, is your shell. So, there you are, seeming cracked and fissured, darkened, broken. But it's not even you. It's the shell.

YOU are glowing underneath. You are fire, laid in waiting. Quiet, dormant, for now.

With warmth and time, you will slowly emerge. The cracks will grow. You'll feel even more broken for a time, perhaps. But you're not. You're whole, and you will eventually emerge as a whole unbroken you when you are ready.

An imperfect analogy, because it does not show the scars...but even then, we can tell of our scars, but they are not us. They are a story we tell about ourselves. And we can change that script.

Our strength is exclusive of these pains and leftovers. Our strength was not built by the hardship or the person. It was simply brought out with their help.

More importantly, we had that strength, that fire, within us all along. We are that fireball. We are the sun. And we can hold onto the scars or let them drift away like the falling, crumbling pieces of black shell that they are.

Variations, Tips, and Possibilities

  • The next natural step from this in-sight, I feel, is Finding the Light. But take whatever step feels right to you. Take your time. Be kind. Be gentle. You will get there.
